‘I will not be playing any golf’ for 2017-18 – BPL team

BPL squad member and former Indian cricketer K Srinivasan will not play a match in 2017-2018 due to a knee injury, the BCCI has said.

According to the BCCIs website, Srinavsans medical team informed the national cricket board that the 36-year-old has a broken bone in his left knee.

The BCCI said that it was also informed that Srinivans medical advice was received that he would not be able to play.

“The BCCIs medical team advised the national team management on this matter and advised that he will not take part in any match for the 2017-2020 season.

The BCCI is working on an interim solution,” a BCCI statement said.”

Srinivasans medical opinion has been shared with the national coach and the BCCIC and this will be taken into consideration.

However, the player is fully confident that he can return to the field and take part.

This decision was taken in the interest of the players health and well-being.”

The statement did not say what form of recovery Srinivalas would need to go through before he can be fully back to playing.

Babar Azam, who was part of India’s side that defeated England in the 2017 World Cup final, is not yet fit enough to take part with the team.

Azam, 26, injured his knee while bowling in the last ODI against England in November.

His injury means the team’s most valuable batsman, Anil Kumble, will have to step in for the injured Sriniva.

Kumble, who has struggled with injuries in the past, is still in the ODI squad for the first Test against South Africa on April 6.

After that, India play the next four Tests against Australia and England, before the final against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the ICC said it is also monitoring Srinavalas progress and will keep him updated.

Srinivas knee injury has led to speculation about his availability for the final Test against Pakistan on April 8.

India have not played any Test match in India since November 2017.

If Srinas recovery is not satisfactory, the team may be forced to play a two-Test series in England in February or March 2019 to help Srinastas recovery, according to the ICC.
